The French pair Xavier Leca and Anto Alessandri won the first tournament of the 2005 European Footvolley League. The two young Corsicans beat the Dutch Jan Wachtmeester and Erik Drenth in the final at the beautiful stadium in Juan les Pins.

Leca and Alessandri played a great match and gave the Dutch, who caused a big surprise to throw the European Champions Phillipe Enea and Patrick Ortega out of the tournament in the semi-finals, hardly a chance. Enea/Ortega did manage to secure a third place beating Italy 2 in the other Semi.
