World Championship, Sao Luis, Brazil 28-30th January 2005

The first event for the 2005 international calendar was the World Championship in Sao Luis, Brazil between 28-30th January. Organised by the International Footvolley Federation (http://www.fifv.org) teams representing 10 countries attended: Brazil, USA, Uruguay, England, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Portugal.

England's two teams were drawn in a group together along with Dico & Alexandre from Brazil and Flavio & Sergio from USA. In a close game between them, David & Gary narrowly beat Chris & George to secure their first championship win and world ranking points.

The final was contested between 2 teams from Brazil: Helinho and Magrao from Rio de Janeiro and Dico and Alexandre from Pernambuco, and was narrowly won by Helinho and Magrao. 3rd place went to Alain and Nathan from Portugal.
